The place
What Medway actually runs on.
Five towns run together here into far and away the largest urban area in the county: Chatham, Gillingham, Rochester, Strood and Rainham, with a combined population bigger than any single settlement in the South East outside the cities. The naval dockyard that built the place closed in the eighties and the economy has spent four decades rebuilding around what was left, which means a mix of light industry and logistics along the river, a university campus presence, and tourism at the historic dockyard and around Rochester's castle and cathedral. Rochester is noticeably more affluent and more visited than its neighbours. Parts of Chatham and Gillingham are among the more deprived wards in the county, and that spread of incomes across a few miles is the single most important thing to understand before marketing anything here.
The search market
Where the opportunity is.
This behaves like a city rather than a market town, and the volume reflects that. It also carries a trap that catches a lot of agencies: almost nobody searching here types the name of the wider authority. They type Chatham, or Gillingham, or Rochester, or Strood, because that is where they think they live. A strategy built around the umbrella term captures a fraction of the demand and looks inexplicably weak in the reporting. The right structure is a page for each town, not one for the group. The income spread matters too, because the same service pitched identically across all five will convert well in one and badly in another, and being clear about price up front tends to work considerably better here than leaving it to a conversation.
